Branchless offers AI-assisted features that help you plan, branch, and ship code faster. This AI Policy describes how we build and operate those features responsibly. It complements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

1. Our Commitment

We are committed to developing and using AI lawfully, ethically, and transparently, in line with applicable law including the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) and the GDPR. We do not use AI for any prohibited practices under the AI Act.

2. How AI Is Used

AI features assist with tasks such as planning work, orchestrating development sessions, and generating code or text suggestions. AI is used to assist you. It does not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

3. Transparency

We aim to make it clear when content is generated or assisted by AI. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and you remain responsible for reviewing and validating any AI-generated suggestions before relying on or shipping them.

4. Your Data and AI

The desktop app keeps your code, files, and git history on your machine. We do not use your private repository contents to train third-party foundation models, and we do not share your personal data with AI providers without a lawful basis. Where AI features rely on third-party model providers, those providers process data under their own terms and our agreements with them.

5. Human Oversight

You stay in control. AI suggestions are proposals, not actions taken on your behalf without your confirmation. You can choose whether and when to use AI features, and you can accept, edit, or reject any AI output.

6. Limitations

AI features are provided "as is" and may produce errors or unexpected results. They are tools to support your work, not a substitute for professional judgement. Do not rely on AI output for safety-critical, legal, financial, or medical decisions.

7. Changes

We may update this AI Policy as our features and the regulatory landscape evolve. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
